  • 10/17/07: Start of Open Enrollment period for health plans, running through Nov 16. For more, click here to go to HR's Open Enrollment Guide.
  • 3/9/07: CUA Employee Wellness Day. United HealthCare will sponsor a Wellness Day for CUA faculty and staff on Thursday, April 26, 2007, from 11:00am until 2:00pm. During this event, faculty and staff can receive free cholesterol, body fat and blood pressure screenings, attend wellness workshops, learn about features available on myUHC.com including the online Health Assessment and Personal Health Manager, and talk with UHC representatives about UHC coverage. Representatives from Spectera (Vision Care provider), United Behavioral Health and Delta Dental will also participate in the event. The Wellness Day screenings will be held in Pryzblya 322A. UHC Workshops will be held in Pryzbyla 327.
  • 1/22/07: UPDATE ON UHC and CoFEW: It appears that faculty members are starting to receive their UHC ID cards in the mail. Please use our Forum to post your comments, or if you prefer to do so anonymously, e-mail them to Prof. Yatt (yatt@cua.edu) who will post them for you. If the plans start functioning proprely, CoFEW will turn its attention back to the other issues on its agenda, foremost of which is faculty compensation.
  • 1/9/07: STATUS OF NEW HEALTH PLANS: The new health plan from UHC (United Health Care) is now in effect, as of January 1. Faculty members are covered, although so far getting access to that coverage has been difficult. UHC has had problems with the functioning of their website. We have not yet heard of any faculty member having received their ID card, although UHC said that they were mailed out in December. And although the UHC website has a tool for printing Temporary ID cards, it is not yet functioning. Some faculty members report that they cannot choose primary care physicians (PCPs) using the UHC website and have had to phone in their requests, but found that even the operators at UHC were unable to assign the PCPs, claiming problems with their computers. CUA's Director of Human Resources and Vice President for Finance are well aware of these problems and are trying to get the situation corrected.
  • 11/8/06: CIGNA IS ENDING: New health (UHC: United Health Care), eye care (Spectera), and dental (Delta Dental) benefit plans are now available. They will become effective on January 1. In the meantime, open enrollment for these plans has started. Enrollment will end November 28. Anyone not registered by then will have NO HEALTH COVERAGE next year so make sure you sign up. See the HR website (at http://humanresources.cua.edu/benefits/uhcoverview.cfm) for more information and to download enrollment forms.
