THE ACADEMIC SENATE
THE COMMITTEE ON COMMITTEES AND RULES

This Academic Senate webpages show the current membership of the standing committees of the Senate. A brief description of the areas of responsibility of each committee and its membership for the academic year 2007-2008 is also given. Committee membership is proposed by the Committee on Committees and Rules and confirmed by Senate vote unless otherwise noted. As approved by the Academic Senate, the term of service for each committee is generally three years, with a limit of two consecutive terms. (Members of the Committee on Committees and Rules are elected to two year terms and may serve three consecutive terms.) When terms were introduced in the 1999-2000 academic year, the Committee assigned staggered terms of one, two, or three years. Terms of service and the year of first appointment to a committee are indicated in parentheses. Because each committee is responsible to the Senate and reports to the Senate, the chair of each committee is normally a Senate member and is appointed by the Senate unless otherwise indicated. When the composition of a committee or its mandate is specified in the Faculty Handbook, the governing language is quoted. Committee members who are on sabbatical may be replaced during their absence upon the request of the committee chair to the Committee on Committees and Rules. Student representatives are appointed by the appropriate student government (USG or GSA).

The Committee on Committees and Rules encourages individual faculty members to notify the Committee of interest in serving on any of the Senate committees. Contact toth@cua.edu.

The listing of members below to the Committee on Committees and Rules was last updated on November 6, 2007.
