The Committee on Libraries

The Committee on Libraries advises the Academic Senate concerning the holdings, facilities, policies and services of University libraries. It forms a part of the University Committee on Libraries. (Faculty Manual, January 2002, Part I, page 35)

The Committee also advises the Director of Libraries, and, through the Director, the chief executive officers of the University concerning library needs and programs.

The Committee consists of two representatives of the Administration appointed by the Provost, six representatives of the Faculties appointed by the Committee on Committees and Rules, and one representative each of the professional Library staff, the Graduate Student Association, and the Undergraduate Student Government. The Director of Libraries serves ex officio. Administrators and members of the Faculties serve for a period of 3 years with staggered terms. The Library Staff representative serves for a period of 3 years. The Committee elects its Chair and Secretary annually. (By action of the Academic Senate, May 10, 1990.)
